Improve Your Golf Game with Our TPI-Certified Assessments
Knee pain is a common complaint that affects people of all ages, including athletes and other active individuals. Not all sports-related knee pain stems from an acute injury, either. Often, it develops due to factors like overuse, repetitive movements, or improper biomechanics.
If your golf game isn’t where you want it to be, there’s a good chance your body is getting in the way. Fortunately, Elevate’s TPI-certified assessment screens, led by physical therapist and golf enthusiast Justin Carlyle, could be exactly what you need to see your best results.
TPI-Certified Assessments: What You Need to Know
TPI stands for Titleist Performance Institute, a global leader in analyzing how your body influences your golf swing. For more than two decades, TPI has studied over 100,000 golfers, from PGA pros to weekend players, to identify what physical factors make a swing efficient. Their key insight? Your swing efficiency directly reflects your body’s physical abilities.
TPI calls this relationship the Body-Swing Connection. If your hips, shoulders, or spine aren’t moving the way they should, your swing suffers. Worse, it can lead to pain or injury over time. A TPI assessment allows us to pinpoint the exact factors holding you back so we can develop a customized treatment plan to address them directly.
What to Expect During Our TPI Assessment Program
The TPI Assessment Screen
Your first step is a detailed, full-body screen that evaluates:
- Swing mechanics and movement quality
- Current pain or discomfort
- Injury history and patterns
- How well your joints move
- Muscle strength and balance
- Core stability and control
Once complete, we analyze your results to pinpoint what’s limiting your swing and what you can do to improve it.
Your Personalized Program
We craft your program based on the results of your screen and your personal golf goals. No two programs are alike, as we pull from several different techniques to help you get the results you want, including:
- Targeted Physical Therapy: We address dysfunctions with hands-on techniques like manual therapy, neuromuscular re-education, or modalities to address underlying injuries. These approaches support better swing mechanics and reduce the risk of injury.
- Customized Fitness Training: Your program will also include golf-specific strength and conditioning training focused on areas like:
- Shoulder, hip, and spine mobility
- Functional movements you use on the course
- Core and rotational power
- Balance and stability
- A stronger, more mobile body means greater swing speed, accuracy, and control.
- Swing Mechanics Support: We collaborate with golf coaches to integrate your physical improvements with your swing technique. The goal is to help you move in a way that lets your swing work more efficiently.
- Injury Prevention and Recovery: Many golfers deal with low back pain, elbow tendonitis, or shoulder strains. We apply evidence-based treatments to manage these conditions to keep you on the course and out of the clinic. Treatments include manual therapy, therapeutic exercise, and targeted movement retraining.
- Supportive Strategies: In some cases, we address factors beyond physical movement, including:
- Nutrition recommendations to improve tissue recovery and energy levels
- Stress management strategies to improve focus and reduce injury risk
- Warm-up planning to get your body ready for play and practice
Why You Should Consider Getting a TPI Assessment at Elevate
Because every person’s body is different, a one-size-fits-all swing isn’t realistic. Our TPI-certified approach respects your limitations while helping you develop a more functional swing that minimizes pain and maximizes performance.
In addition to the assessment itself, you’ll also work with a trained physical therapist who will help you get stronger, move better, and recover faster. You’ll also receive specific, medically informed guidance that aligns with your course goals.

Full Swing Ahead: Summer Golf Tips from the Experts
As the summer heats up, so does the desire to perfect your golf game. Whether you’re a seasoned pro or just getting started, optimizing your performance on the course requires a blend of technique, physical conditioning, and mental preparedness. Here are the top five tips to help you elevate your golf game this season:
- Consistent Practice: Dedicate regular sessions to refining your skills across all aspects of your game, from driving to putting. Consistency breeds confidence and improves muscle memory, essential for maintaining precision during every swing.
- Proper Warm-Up: Before teeing off, warm up dynamically with exercises that enhance flexibility and activate key muscle groups. This prepares your body for the physical demands of golf, reducing the risk of injury and enhancing performance.
- Strength and Conditioning: Incorporate strength training into your routine to build core stability and increase power generation in your swings. Focus on exercises that strengthen the core, hips, and shoulders—critical areas for a controlled and powerful swing.
- Flexibility Training: Improve your range of motion through regular stretching and mobility exercises. Flexible muscles and joints contribute to a smoother, more consistent swing, enhancing both accuracy and distance.
- Mental Preparation: Develop mental resilience with strategies like visualization and positive thinking. Clear your mind of distractions, stay focused on each shot, and visualize successful outcomes to boost confidence and maintain composure on the course.

Ingredients:
- 2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
- 1 red bell pepper, stemmed, seeded, and sliced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, stemmed, seeded, and sliced
- 8 ounces cremini mushrooms, stemmed and sliced
- 3 cups small broccoli florets
- 1 cup sugar snap peas
- 1 cup thinly sliced carrots
- 3 green onions, thinly sliced
- Sesame seeds, for garnish
Stir Fry Sauce
- ½ cup water
- ⅓ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon honey or brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 2 teaspoons toasted sesame oil
- 2 garlic cloves, grated
- 2 teaspoons grated fresh ginger
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes, optional
Instructions:
- Make the stir fry sauce: In a medium bowl, whisk together the water, soy sauce, honey, rice vinegar, sesame oil, garlic, ginger, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes, if using.
- Make the stir fry. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet or wok over high heat. Add the red and yellow peppers, mushrooms, broccoli, snap peas, and carrots and toss. Cook, stirring occasionally, for 3 to 4 minutes, or until the vegetables soften slightly.
